MRI Services

MRI Accredited FacilityMagnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an imaging modality that uses a very large magnet in conjunction with radio frequencies to acquire high quality, cross-sectional images of the human body. Unlike CT scans or traditional X-Rays, MRI uses no ionizing radiation (x-rays). MRI scans are used to diagnose many kinds of conditions, especially since MRI is more sensitive to soft tissue and bone changes than X-Rays. For more information about our MRI, please click here.

Bone Density Analysis

To detect osteoporosis accurately, doctors use an enhanced form of X-Ray technology called Dual-Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DXA). DXA bone densitometry is today's established standard for measuring bone mineral density (BMD). DXA is a quick, painless procedure for measuring bone loss.

Bone density is used most often to diagnose low bone mass due to osteoporosis, but this technology can be applied to other orthopedic and rheumatologic conditions. Click here to learn about the Bone Densitometry machine that OSMS uses.
